How to Reconcile Your Books

Reconciliation refers to the process of matching your recorded transactions (such as expenses, income, and transfers) with your actual bank or credit card statements to ensure they align.

How to Reconcile Your Bank Account in Balabook:

Add a Bank Account:

  1. From the left-side menu, click Banking.
  2. In the upper right corner, click the 'Add Bank Account' button.
  3. Fill in the required information:
    - Bank Name (select from the dropdown)
    - Account Type
    - Account Name
    - Currency
    - SWIFT/BIC Code
  4. Click 'Save'.

Reconcile Your Bank Account:

You can reconcile your account in two ways:

Manual Reconciliation:

  1. Go to Banking, and select the bank account you want to reconcile.
  2. Click the 'Reconcile' button.
  3. A pop-up will appear ,enter:
    - The statement date (from your bank statement).
    - The ending bank balance.
  4. Balabook will compare the balance with your internal records, and you can manually adjust any differences.

Automated Reconciliation (Connect Your Bank):

  1. In the Banking section, click 'Connect Bank' in the top right corner of the bank account box.
  2. Complete the 2-step authentication process to securely connect your bank.
  3. Once authorized, select which external bank accounts to link to your Balabook accounts.
  4. Balabook will automatically import and match your transactions with your records.
  5. If a transaction doesn’t match correctly, you can edit or categorize it manually.
