Why does my VAT Report Show “No VAT Return,” Even Though we’ve Paid VAT on Several Items?

If your VAT report indicates that there is no VAT return available even though you've paid VAT,this is typically due to setup or data entry issues. Below are common reasons and how to troubleshoot:

1. Check VAT Categorization:

- Ensure all transactions where VAT was paid are correctly categorized using the appropriate VAT rate (e.g., 19%).
- If a VAT rate is missing or the item is marked as Tax Exempt, the system will exclude it from the VAT report.

2. Confirm Eligibility for VAT Recovery:

- VAT is only recoverable from VAT-registered suppliers.
- If the purchase was made outside the VAT zone, or the supplier is not VAT-registered, the VAT may not be reclaimable and will not appear in the return.

3. Verify Date Range:

- Make sure the selected VAT report date range matches your official VAT return period (monthly or quarterly).
- A mismatch in the date range could result in no transactions being shown.
